This leaves many people concerned with the job prospects in the near future. However, although automation will be taking over many jobs, it will also be creating new professions, while at the same time not even affecting others. Humans are complex and robots cannot understand the complexity of the human mind. Therapists provide connection and empathy which people need to get through dark times. Additionally, there is a growing acknowledgement of the benefits of therapy, leading many people to try it at younger ages. A degree in psychology and following it up with a masters would be the best way to get into this job. If you would like to become a psychiatrist then additionally, you need to go to medical school. Psychiatrists are able to prescribe medication and provide a diagnosis.
AI can contribute immensely to the field of healthcare. That being said, it won't replace professionals in this field. During the coronavirus pandemic we saw proof of this human need. Doctors and nurses with protective face and body coverings decided to tape a picture of themselves onto their uniform. Isolated coronavirus patients were lacking human connection, so the healthcare workers took this action to provide some reassurance. Another aspect to consider is the complexity of people´s health conditions. There is always a chance that robots could produce errors. These errors aren´t as manageable as an accounting error for instance, where some account numbers are a little off, but it could mean the difference between life or death. Healthcare professionals, therefore, are still going to be a necessary field. A bachelor in pre-medicine or biology could be good places to begin this career path. Then you must get into medical school or dental school.
